Editorial Policy
Independence
Our guides are written for homeowners. We do not accept payment to recommend a specific contractor or product. If that ever changes for a page, the page will say so clearly at the top, and any such links will be marked accordingly.
Sources
We rely on public agencies (such as the EPA, CDC and National Weather Service), university extension programs (such as UC IPM), California regulators and recognized industry bodies. Each guide lists its sources, and we check that links work before publishing.
Bylines and expertise
Guides are published under the Journal's editorial desk. We do not invent author credentials, licenses, reviews or testimonials. When a guide has been reviewed by a qualified professional, the page will name that review.
Safety
Roof work is dangerous. Where a task involves ladders or roof access, we say so and point to safer options.
Updates and corrections
Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. Factual errors are corrected promptly, and significant corrections are noted on the page. Report issues via the contact page.
